What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an easy way to be alerted when new content appears on your favorite websites. Among other things, RSS enables NPC to podcast our sermons.

To use RSS, you need to have an RSS reader. You can learn more about one of them here: Pluck® Overview and here: Pluck® for Consumers.

The NPC web site offers this feed: Sermons and Homilies

There are numerous RSS news aggregators / news readers available for free download or for purchase on the Internet.

Adding a News Feed to your News Reader

Using your mouse right click on the XML orange graphic. In the Microsoft I.E. browser "copy shortcut" and in Netscape and Firefox browsers "Copy Link Location" from the pop-up menu that appears. Launch your news aggregator or news reader application and paste the news feed URL into an "add new feed" window. Detailed instructions on how to add news feeds are included in the news reader application that you choose. When new sermons are published by NPC (every Sunday) your news reader/aggregator will let you know through a small pop-up window or other alert device. If you close your news reader/aggregator, you will be advised of any updates the next time you open it.

More on RSS

For more details on RSS, try this useful FAQ or the RSS specification. The specification focuses on the RSS 2.0 format that NPC uses for its sermons.
