MARRIAGE MINISTRIES COUNCIL
Preparing for Marriage
We seek to assist couples in preparing for and building strong marriages in several ways:
Prepare for Marriage Course
A seven session series is offered Sunday mornings covering topics essential to a
successful lifetime commitment in a healthy Christian Marriage and is a
prerequisite for those being married at National.
PREPARE Inventory
This resource helps couples explore strength and growth areas in their relationship.
It is administered and interpreted during two separate sessions with a counsellor
certified by PREPARE.
Weddings
Scheduling and planning weddings at National is accomplished through the Congregational Care Assistant, Sharon Dougherty, and one of our pastors.
Counseling
The officiating pastor will have a series of counseling sessions, usually three, with couples being married at National.
Marriage Mentoring
Couples seasoned in marriage are trained and connected with engaged couples,
to provide a supportive relationship during the first year of marriage.
Mentor couples receive ongoing support through bi-annual dinners which
feature continuing education.

Marriage Course
The NPC Marriage Ministries Council invites you to participate in this worthwhile course
designed to strengthen and enrich your marriage. Over seven evenings, couples will view
a video and spend time in a romantic, quiet setting to discuss tools that build strong
and healthy marriages. Topics covered include recognizing each other's needs, learning
to communicate more effectively, resolving conflict, healing past hurts, making time
for each other, and having fun together. Couples of all ages will benefit from the practical
and fun presentations.
Romantic Dinner
An annual event that takes place Friday evening of Valentines’ Weekend.
Enjoy an evening of fine dining, entertainment, and music.
