Dr. Gareth Icenogle, Senior Pastor
Since July 25, 2004, Dr. Gareth Icenogle has served as Senior Pastor/Head of Staff at The National Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Icenogle is a native of Southern California.
He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the
University of California at Riverside,
and a Master of Arts degree in Music from
California State University at Los Angeles.
He completed Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees at
Fuller Seminary.
He has served churches in California, Texas, and Pennsylvania,
and has served as Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Seminary.
Prior to being called to National, he served as Senior Pastor at
First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem.
From the early 1970s, through partnerships with
Lyman Coleman and
Roberta Hestenes,
Dr. Icenogle has invested much time and energy in small group ministry.
His book,
Biblical Foundations for Small Group Ministry (IVP, 1994),
is widely used as a theological basis for developing small group ministries
in local congregations throughout the world.
Dr. Icenogle has been married to
Vida Smith Icenogle more than thirty years.
They have two daughters, Tamara and Tonya.
