The Congregational Care Ministries focus on community and care. The support and encouragement found in a committed community sustains every program in Congregational Care, and sets the stage for caring to be the hallmark of every ministry area. The programs represented in Congregational Care are clustered in four ministry councils.

CARE MINISTRIES COUNCIL
Deacons
National Presbyterian Church is divided into 29 geographic areas,
forming smaller parish communities within the larger church family.
Each deacon is assigned to a local parish. A deacon's responsibility is
to be in contact with each member, to arrange for members to come
together for local gatherings, and to identify needs of individual
members for the purpose that appropriate care be given by the
deacon, parish members, the pastoral staff, or any other care
givers.

Care Teams
Administered by the Board of Deacons, Care Teams provide a coordinated way for NPC to respond to the real-life needs
of individuals and families. Teams of volunteers (6-12 persons), with a team coordinator, provide practical,
emotional and spiritual support to people living with illness, disability, limitations from aging or injury or other
life-challenging situations. A six-hour orientation program is required for those interested in joining this ministry.

In Touch
Administered by the Board of Deacons, In Touch is designed for NPC members who can no longer attend church.
Once a month, a volunteer visits a home-centered member to share a prepared devotional and conversation.
Orientation is required and offered throughout the year.

Accessibility Committee
The Accessibility Committee is composed of members who are deeply committed to ensuring that people
who live with disabilities will always be welcomed in the love of Christ, made comfortable and able
to worship, and made able to participate fully in the life of NPC.

Faith and Health
In conjunction with the parish nurse, this ministry promotes the stewardship of
mind and body with a health resource table in Stone Fellowship Hall (first and third
Sundays of each month), educational programs and emergency response plans for the church campus.
Faith and health sponsors blood drives throughout the year and a flu clinic in the fall.

Prayer and Healing Ministry
Services of prayer for healing are held Sunday mornings following the Sunday services, in the chapel.
A pastor, elder, and Stephen Minister are available to participate in prayers of concern, thanks, or praise.
Every Wednesday at 5 p.m., in the parlor, a group gathers to pray for the church and the people on the "Care and Joy List."
Also, the Women's Association prayer chain prays faithfully for needs that are shared.
Stephen Ministry
A lay caring confidential ministry reaching out to those in need of a listening ear and Christian presence.
A 50 hour educational program is completed which equips lay members to provide distinctly
Christian care to those experiencing difficulties. For information

PROGRAM MINISTRIES COUNCIL
Preparation for Ministry
Candidates for professional ministry are provided guidance, encouragement,
and financial assistance as they pursue seminary education. Usually
about ten men and women of National Presbyterian Church are responding
to God's call to be ministers of Word and sacrament.
Military Members (non-resident)
This program is unique among Presbyterian congregations. It provides
an official church home for persons who are on active military service.
A typical person would be a military person or family member who
commits to Christ before a chaplain on a military base and wants
to be a Presbyterian, but has no hometown church. The chaplain
will enroll him/her on our military roll. Also, we keep the baptismal
records of any children. More information is available

All Church Picnic
This annual event takes place on the grounds of NPC on Labor Day Sunday. Join your NPC community for food, fun and friendship!
NEW MEMBERS
NPC and ME
This program introduces potential new members to the National Presbyterian Church through classes
taught by the pastors focusing on what we believe about Jesus Christ,
the Presbyterian denomination, and our church.
Laity describe the programs available for spiritual growth, community, and service.
The class is offered three times a year, and is a prerequisite for membership.

Connections in Ministry & Mission
Following participation in the NPC & Me class, new members of the Church will meet with a conversation leader
to learn more about your gifts and discuss how you can be more involved in the church community.
SENIOR MINISTRIES COUNCIL
Prime Time
This group was formed in 2004 to provide special opportunities for church members 55 and older.
The group meets once a month on Wednesday mornings for a program at the church or an outing.

Sunday Evening Club
Single men and women meet first and third Sunday evenings for
worship and throughout the month for various social, service,
inspirational and educational projects. This interdenominational
group is open to all wanting Christian guidance to their lives.
SKIFF
This organization of senior adults meets monthly for a meal followed
by a program of general interest. The focus is to serve the senior
adults in our congregation and encourage them to serve others.
Their most important mission project is to provide Bibles for
the third grade Sunday school classes every year.
Ingleside
The Ingleside Presbyterian Retirement Community Committee ministers
to our resident members with visits and prayers and by meeting special
needs.
